COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible to support the Director of Communications and Client Strategy and provide administrative support for key clients in the area of communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating marketing plans and communication strategies for various clients

  • Creating social media communications and marketing plans for a variety of platforms and clients

  • Supporting Managing Matters and their clients’ with the creation and execution of Marketing & Communications strategies (may include production of newsletters, media releases, announcements and membership communications for clients)

  • Working with a graphic designer to create marketing collateral

  • Creating and curating engaging content for Managing Matters and their clients

  • Communicating and nurturing relationships with team members and clients

  • Building and managing media relations for our clients

  • Creating press releases and pitching to media

  • Effectively understanding and utilizing Managing Matters and their clients’ various social media and online platforms

  • Performing various research and market analysis activities

  • Reviewing content for spelling, grammar and quality

  • Updating client websites’ copy and branding

  • Account management/association management and administrative initiatives as required

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Fluent bilingualism in English and French is an asset

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Relevant post-secondary education with a minimum of 2-4 years in marketing and communications

  • Experience in creating social media content and using social listening/tracking tools

  • Experience in working with marketing budgets and paid social media and digital campaigns

  • Experience in working with a graphic designer considered an asset

  • Experience in media relations considered an asset

  • Experience in Association Management considered an asset

  • Participation in creation and initiation of sponsorship initiatives for virtual and live events and/or association management is an asset

  • Ability to work in a team and independently

  • Ability to multitask and work effectively on various projects simultaneously

  • Excellent organization skills and ability to take care of details while managing multiple tasks and working under time constraints

  • Advanced computer skills including MS office and Excel are extremely important, as well as experience using various email marketing tools
