Senior Event Coordinators are responsible for coordinating and/ or leading all aspects of planning and executing up to 200 company wide client events on an annual basis. Events include: conferences, golf tournaments and professional development events in Toronto, across Canada and Internationally. 

The Senior Event Coordinator should have a passion for event management and for delivering outstanding customer service. 

Must be hard working with ability to meet project needs, manage multiple priorities and work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Evening and weekend work may be required. 

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Ability to work well under pressure and model a positive outlook and attitude 

  • Ability to perform all the responsibilities of an event coordinator at an expert level (planning, and full management of events). This means limited to no supervision. 

  • Skilled performance of all event planning responsibilities (critical path, budget, RFP, marketing, food and beverage, etc.) 

  • Reports to Manager, Director, or VP, depending if higher roles are filled 

  • May have supervisory duties of other coordinator(s) and may have a team/team member who reports into them 

  • Clear understanding of company's mission 

  • Strong work ethic with perseverance to work long hours over extended periods of time, due to the nature of the role 

  • Ability to think strategically and recommend strategic direction for clients. Sharing strategic directions amongst all clients 

  • Ability to determine new business/ revenue ideas with existing clients 

  • Involvement in the annual budget creation process for their clients – assisting with this process and provides recommendations to the Board on meeting strategic and financial goals 

  • Responsible for looking for and presenting new opportunities to event director for clients, for their clients 

  • On-boarding of new clients and exit strategy of existing clients (if applicable) 

  • Abiding by our internal policies and procedures 


Demonstrated ability in (necessary, and to be acquired in this role): 

  • Coaching skills (assess & diagnose performance and behaviour issues) 

  • Ability to effectively address performance issues, as required 

  • Superior listening skills (adherence to 10 principles of listening) 

  • Delivering feedback and advice, as necessary 

May be asked to be involved in some of the following: 

  • Having difficult conversations (“critical conversations”) 

  • Hiring (interviewing, onboarding, training, assessment on culture and job fit) 

  • Performance management and performance differentiation 

  • Performance assessments 

  • Performance of Annual reviews/ Career Conversations 

  • Transferring accountability & holding people accountable 

  • An understanding and demonstrating the difference between managing and leading 

Desired skills and Experience: 

  • 4+ years’ experience in the event industry or in a similar role
